I quite enjoyed this movie. Horror isn’t necessarily my favorite genre of movie, but I think the more suspenseful tone of this movie was suited more to what I like. I loved the acting from both Kathy Bates and James Caan. The little snippets of anger that Annie showed throughout Paul’s stay were suspenseful (as they should have been) and certainly gave me the impression that she would go crazy later on, because of course, I knew that Mercy would be dead by the end of the story and because she is his “number one fan” she probably won’t take that very well… (dramatic irony by the way).
I think the emotion this movie stirred up in me was fantastic as well. Throughout the entire story, I felt his pain, his anger, and his curiosity. Whenever he went out exploring, I would feel like yelling when he picked something up and left it in the wrong spot. I wanted him to get out. When she burned his story, I felt angry! If I was him, I’d want her dead.
And by the time she started to make him write again, I did want her dead. When he started collecting the pills, I cheered. And when he failed I groaned.
And at the same time, It kept me on my toes. I never knew where Annie was going to be, when she was going to come back, or what she was going to do. There was one good “jump scare” if you could call it that, that made me jump a little bit.
All in all, I can call this movie nothing but good. It kept me interested and I wouldn’t hesitate to watch it again. Hey, maybe you should watch it!
See you in the next one!
